Fortnite players around the world were met with a huge disappointment as Epic Games announced an extended downtime for the newly anticipated launch of Chapter 5 Season 2 for Fortnite.
Normally, when a new season starts, Epic Games quickly releases the game with a short server downtime. But this time, they got hit with an unexpected issue, which forced their engineer team to extend the time and delay the roll out of the new season.
Based on the update provided from Fortnite official twitter handle. The update will be at least 8 hours longer than planned. At the moment of this writing, no clear explanation was given to the public for what caused the issue, as Epic doesn’t know what caused the issue as yet. Rest assured, Epic Engineers are working hard to solve it as fast as they can.
What to expect this season?
This new Season is called ‘Myths and Mortals’ and has a Greek mythology theme. Players will get new god powers like Zeus’ lightning through the Battle Pass. Two new areas are also coming – Mount Olympus and The Underworld. Legendary characters from myths may even appear as bosses!
On top of the season launch, Fortnite is doing a cool collab with Lego. Players can find Lego bricks on the map to rebuild iconic parts of the world out of virtual Legos. It’s a fun new way to play.
We don’t know when exactly the servers will be back, but Epic says they are working hard to fix the issue. Fans will have to wait patiently for more info from Fortnite Status. When the problems are solved, Season 2 looks set to be the most epic one yet!
In the meantime, players can look forward to exploring the exciting new content introduced in Chapter 5 Season 2, including the Myths and Mortals theme and the Lego Fortnite collaboration.
